So What Music Festival '17
April 14th, 2017
So What Music Festival has always been a favorite of mine and I was honored to be apart of this the 10 year anniversary. It's always one I look forward to the most. Not only cause some of my best shots have come from it. But because of the friends i've made over the years at it. Been shooting this festival for about 5 years now and it's been amazing to see how much its grown over the years. I'm excited to see what the future holds. Thanks to Mike, Hunter, Orlando and the rest of the Third String Productions team for allowing me to once again come capture this festival.
Day 1// Forever The Sickest Kids at Trees & Miss Fortune at Curtain Club
Day 1 was a bit different then normal. Instead of starting things off at the ballpark. Third String decided to do what they did this past fall and kick it off in Deep Ellum an artsy part of Downtown Dallas with multiple venues all around having showcases of which was a great way to start the weekend off. Ended up spending most my night at Forever the Sickest Kids showcase at Trees. Once their set was over was able to make it in time to catch a bit of Miss Fortune over at Curtain Club.

Day 2//Airhogs Stadium
Back to Airhogs Stadium for day 2 of the festival of which I really enjoy this venue. Can't go wrong with outdoor shows and solid lighting. Day 1 at the ballpark had a bit of a nostalgia to it as well an eclectic mix of hip hop and metal bands. In honor of the 10 year theme of the festival Mayday Parade, Cute Is What We Aim For, We The Kings, Envy On The Coast , Forever The Sickest Kids and Never Shout Never took to the stage to perform some tunes off albums that came out 10 years ago. Rarely am I able to photograph rap acts so it was also cool to see Marty Grimes, Blue The Misfit, Young Lungs, Pouya, Fat Nick and Ghostmane in the mix this year. Nice add change from the normal pop and metal bands the festival normally brings and I hope they bring more hip hop acts next spring.

Day 2 at Airhogs Stadium
Though as bitter sweet the festival was coming to a end. Day 3 packed a stacked line up of The Story So Far, Dance Gavin Dance, Four Year Strong, Every Time I Die, He Is Legend and Turnstile. Just to name a few. Bringing the most stacked line up of the weekend in my opinion this final day left me with very little down time. I think I probably only had about an hour of down time the whole day. Which was sorta stressful to get all the acts I wanted to shoot in. But yet I made it work.
